Daily habits: From enjoyment to excess.

Written by Christina Margeti

More or less, in general, we all have a passion, big or small. A daily habit that pleases us – genuinely or illusory. Some habits are more harmless (at least apparently), others less so – openly and blatantly. We may like sweets, good food, or ready-made meals. Perhaps wine at the table. Maybe we play a game of chance now and then.

There is no problem with any of these things – as long as they are done in moderation. But when the balance is lost, then the “simple” becomes a problem. For example: Any overconsumption, especially without a diet rich in fruit and salads, combined with a sedentary lifestyle, seriously affects our health. “One drink” can become an addiction when it becomes daily or uncontrolled.
Buying a lottery ticket or gambling once in a while is not a bad thing. But when you spend all your money on gambling, neglecting basic needs and obligations, then we are not talking about a hobby, but an addiction.

And of course, there are much more destructive addictions: to substances, to gambling, to situations, even to people.
The problem is that most of the time, you don’t admit it to yourself.
You fool yourself. You hide. You deny it. But the first step to liberation is to admit that there is a problem..That you are stuck. That you need help. And ask for it—if you really want it. Otherwise, you can continue to deceive yourself.

The solution? Good habits.
We can always replace negative habits with positive ones.
Not perfect ones. Not difficult ones. Simple and practical ones:
Walking three times a week
A little jogging, if we like it
Reading a good book
A healthy diet, fruit, salads, juices, herbs.
A hobby or sport that relaxes us.
A short trip every three or six months, depending on our means.

There are so many small, good habits that make our lives more beautiful.
The question is: which ones can we incorporate into our own schedule?
Let’s think about them.
Let’s choose.
And let’s do what’s best for us.
