Every season has its beauty…

Written by Christina Margeti

Some prefer, love winter, others love summer. I won’t hide from you that in the younger years of my life, I liked winter better. Then growing up I loved summer more and disliked winters. But growing even older I realized that ultimately, every season has its own beauty.

In autumn everything begins to calm down, to rest. As if preparing, as it were, for the winter to come. The creatures of the earth begin to roost lazily and sweetly. The watering rains begin to quench the earth’s thirst, we are sweetly lulled to sleep by the sound, the scent. The cool breeze that sometimes grows stronger. Some trees shed their leaves against the earth and wrap themselves calmly in the unruffled peace of their existence. There’s a sweet warmth to autumn, for sure. In our homes after mid to late November, we begin to refresh our space, dressing it up nicely, warmly with rugs and fabrics, perhaps bringing some furniture closer together, getting it ready for the winter to come. And here comes the magical December with its decorations and gifts, with its delicacies and fairy tales, as the first of winter, ushering in the season that follows. A season that also has its good things. It makes us feel and appreciate the warmth and coziness of our home, the hot coffee or tea in our favorite mugs in the mornings or afternoons, the sweet “snuggling” under the blankets, playing and cuddling with our kitties or doggies, our pets in general.

The savoury and sweet treats we enjoy while watching movies with or without a sidecar, the reso candles we might light, the sticks with nice scents that add more warmth and positive energy to our spaces. The books we buy to read and the general shopping we do, which give us joy and a sense of newness and renewal. I’ll digress for a moment from the subject I’m writing about to say that on days when it’s very cold, unfavourable outdoor conditions, snow, I won’t hide from you that my mind always goes to the people who don’t have a roof, a home, and I’m very saddened by this thought. I find it unacceptable that in our planet, people have been left to their fate in the year 2024 and governments have not yet taken care, that there are no homeless people anywhere, but all of them have the obvious, a roof, a house! At least thanks to the sensibility of some people, municipalities, NGOs, organizations institutions, fortunately there are some places where people who need it can go. Especially for the days of extreme weather events, they make sure that most of the institutions, municipalities, at least provide free safe and heated places. So if we see a homeless person, we can inform them and urge them to go there and not to stay outside on the streets in such cold weather. I’ll come back now to the issue. And here comes Spring this blessed season, that blooms everything and our hearts still.

The weather turns good, the flowers bloom, the gardens turn green, the day begins to grow, we come out of our shells, it is the most ideal time for plenty of walks, nature walks, excursions, even one-day short “getaways” and engaging in hobbies we love. We too are becoming more extroverted, becoming more what we call “out of heart ” like nature. Women’s Day, Mother’s Day, Labor Day, Easter, May Day wreaths…

And spring with its end, introduces us to our wonderful summer, where the day becomes even longer, we become more extroverted, we have collected rugs, blankets in the houses, we buy new clothes for the summer season, swimwear, towels, sunscreen, we dress lightly and carelessly, we enjoy the beaches, the seas, we let ourselves be in the magic and the magic of the sea, we are more outward-lookingwe have collected rugs, blankets in our homes, we buy new clothes for the summer season, swimsuits, towels, sunscreen, we dress lightly and carelessly, we enjoy the beaches, the seas, we let ourselves indulge in the magic and benefits of water and sun. We enjoy nature, the unique sunsets, the wonderful views of the full moons on the sea, or wherever we can gaze at them, enjoy them, the walks, the concerts, the trips we can take – if we can, of course – the various events we can attend, the ice creams, the fresh seasonal vegetables from the village in our salads (if we have relatives, or any friends in the country or just houses with gardens), the summer fruits, the cool juices and cocktails, we sit outside more, on our balconies, patios, terraces, or terraces. All of the above together with our summer vacation, our rest, our more free time, with maybe less days/hours of work (but this is not always the case as we understand, some people work as much or more in the summers) compose our personal paradises.

And it comes back in the fall again and the same cycle all over again. Because everything is a cycle. And that’s the beauty of it. Can you imagine if we had only one season, the same forever? It would be boring after all… It would certainly be boring now that I think about it… monotonous, tedious.
