Happiness is something different and subjective for every being. Some people experience happiness through companionship, marriage, having children, contact with animals, or through their career, travel, exposure to other cultures, or engagement with art, sports, and athletic activities — things that bring joy to each individual — or even through the simplest everyday moments. For example, waking up very early in the morning and watching the sunrise, reading the morning newspaper, or drinking your coffee. These are small, everyday things and habits which, for you, are meaningful and make you feel fulfilled and well. And that is perfectly okay. We are different, unique beings, and we could never, of course, experience happiness in the same way.

Some believe that happiness consists of small moments and that they do not last for long. That may be true; I will not question personal experiences or the different ways people perceive and experience them. For me, however, happiness originates from within. It is the result of the stability and consistency we show towards ourselves and in all areas and levels of life. When we truly feel fulfilled within ourselves, then no external factor can make us feel any kind of emotional lack. After all, life itself, existence itself, is a blessing and good fortune in itself. And that is enough. We only need to recognize and appreciate this divine gift, feeling and experiencing the joy and gratitude of “I exist” in the here and now, and of “I am.”
